Although originally leased in 1932 by the Olympic Organization for the purposes of conducting training sessions, throughout the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s the Olympic Auditorium soon housed some of the biggest boxing events in history The Olympic played a crucial role in serving as the main stage for numerous Mexican champions; including Danny Little Red Lopez, Rueben Olivares, Sugar Ramos, Salvador Sanchez and Oscar De La Hoya, who made his professional debut there Boxing icons, Sugar Ray Robinson and Gene Fullmer waged one of their history making wars at the sports arena and, over time, it became the image of what a perfect boxing venue should be
