	| One jacket to rule them all. Cycling jackets are a big investment both in terms of economics and preference. If youve a fall-weight jacket that fits you perfectly then its a minor tragedy when you have to switch to your winter-weight jacket that hangs loosely or simply doesnt fit well. After all in cold-weather riding comfort is already at a premium so its a shame to sacrifice fit for function. The Gore Bike Wear Phantom 2.0 SO Jackets removable sleeves address both of these concerns alternating between a short-sleeve Windstopper top for fall and spring conditions and a long-sleeve jacket when winter rolls in essentially giving you two jackets that fit the same way for the price of one. The Phantom 2.0 features Gores venerable Windstopper Soft Shell fabric. The Soft Shell construction is a touch heavier than Gores similar Active Shell fabric owing to a difference in lining. Active Shell uses a thin mesh-like scrim for wind protection without adding undue warmth and weight while the Soft Shell incorporates a plush soft lining thats thicker for insulation in cold weather while still providing the wind-resistance for which Windstopper is named. Wind-resistance is expressed in terms of CFM which determines permeability by measuring the volume of air that can pass through a given material in one minute. Since all fabrics branded with the Windstopper stop sign logo either meet or exceed the windproof rating of 1.0 CFM they are all literally windproof. Windstopper Soft Shell is also water-resistant and wicks moisture away from your skin so youre protected from moisture both inside and out. Though Windstopper is stretchy it does sacrifice some give in pursuit of elemental protection so Gore incorporates stretch panels in the Phantom 2.0. This permits a full range of movement whether youre stretched over the hoods or reaching down into the drops. We love Windstopper fabric but its hardly a rarity in cycling clothing these days. What really sets the Phantom 2.0 apart from the legion of jackets using similar materials are the sleeves. With a zip-zip the raglan sleeves come off exposing short soft sleeves and converting the Phantom to a jacket thats appropriate for fall or spring. Going even further into protective design features Gore included a zippered underflap at the rear hem to protect you from wheel-spray on wet days. Elastic bindings on the cuffs and hem keep the jacket in place and three rear pockets provide enough storage for all your essentials plus the sleeves if conditions require you to remove them mid-ride. Reflective elements on all sides of the jacket increase help keep you visible in low-light conditions. The Gore Bike Wear Phantom 2.0 SO Jacket is available in five sizes ranging from Small to X-Large in the colors Black/red Brilliant Blue/fresh green Fresh Green/black Neon Yellow/black Red/black and Ruby Red/red.
