While Mavics line of wheels remains a conservative stalwart in the industrys current bandwagon atmosphere the French firms latest footwear offerings represent a more radical departure from the current norm. The mens Ksyrium Pro II Shoes are a prime example of this willingness to thinker with the brands stand-out Ergo Straps serving as the first indication that the shoes have something different under the hood. That big difference comes in the form of the Endofit tongue construction a design adapted to the cycling world from athletic footwear giant Salomon. Endofit is a sleeve that wraps the midfoot to anchor the shoe securely in the middle while allowing play in the toe box and metatarsal area. The shoe doesnt wiggle while grinding up punchy climbs but it also doesnt crush the more hotspot-prone areas of the foot. This last design is held in place with the above mentioned Ergo Straps which combine the time-tested hold of hook-and-loop straps with aramid cables and a ratcheting Ergo Dial. The outsole is the same light stiff carbon-reinforced model used throughout most of the Ksyrium line and the deleterious impact that its stiffness would have on your foot is mitigated by the inclusion of Mavics Ergo Fit 3D OrthLite insole which combines strategic support and relief with the technical accuracy normally reserved for a high-end chamois.
