It utilizes a blend of water-resistant down and synthetic insulation to combine the warmth and packability of down with the fast drying and warm-when-wet properties of synthetic fill. A classic box wall construction throughout the main body keeps insulation in place for consistent reliable warmth while the stitch through construction on the sleeves reduce bulk and improve freedom of movement. Montane equipped the Black Ice jacket with various features to help augment your on-mountain experience. An adjustable helmet-compatible hood provides extra protection from the elements and the visor has been stiffened with a foam insert and wire to withstand wind. An internal elastic loop and hook allows the hood to be rolled down and stowed away in good conditions. The two-way front zipper is designed for use with a backpack or climbing harness. An internal waist drawcord adjustment for a warmer more personalized fit while the adjustable hem helps seal out cold and snow. the Black Ice also features an internal water bottle pocket to keep beverages in a liquid state when the temperature drops.
