In the same manner as Northwaves top-of-the-line shoes the uppers of the Hammer have been designed using BioMap technology. The result is a seamless upper from an ultralight polyurethane that minimizes chafing and hot spots. Because the uppers are seamless this allows Northwave to use an internal Integrated Heel System to lock your foot into the shoe. This minimal system shaves weight by eliminating the need for an external heel cup.The footbed the an EVA and microfiber Performance Pro which supports your foot for long hours pedaling. The shoes are secured to your feet with three hook and loop straps.
Northwaves Speedlight 3D Sole is a nylon chassis that has been injected with fiberglass. Although it is not as stiff as a full carbon fiber sole nylon is ideal for mountain biking and cyclocross where you many find yourself walking a bit. Extremely stiff-soled shoes may cause blisters and dont provide needed grip on the ground. A lugged rubber sole completes the base.
