The Levis Vintage Clothing 1915 501 Jean was produced in collaboration with Cone Mills Denim of North Carolina. The story of Cone Denim began in 1891, when two brothers founded the Cone Export & Commission Company. By 1905, they established the White Oak Millnamed after a 200-year-old tree on its groundsthat would set the standard for quality denim. Today, White Oak retains this status and continues to produce its renowned fabric. Regarded as a stronghold of textile history, it remains an endless inspiration and integral resource for archives. In 1915, Cone Denim and Levi Strauss & Co. struck a historic agreement, and Cone was granted the exclusive right to manufacture Levis proprietary Shrink-to-Fit denim for all 501 Jeans. This gentlemans agreement, still in place today, became known as The Golden Handshake. Over a century later, we are still unearthing archival details about fabrics weve developed throughout our history with Cone Denim. The 1915 501 Jean celebrates this heritagereproducing the Cone fabric and original 1915 Levis fit, and carrying the secrets of a 100-year partnership within its warp and weft. This iconic garment is crafted from selvedge denima Cone Mills specialty. It also features a Panama Pacific tag, commemorating its display at the famed Panama Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. This garment sits high at the waist, offers a relaxed fit through the seat and thigh, and features wide straight leg.
